A Beginner’s Guide to Starting MMA in Bali
MMA looks intimidating from the outside, but the truth is it is open to everyone — including people who have never trained martial arts. In Bali, the right way to start is at a gym with a clear structure. Here is the full guide.
1. Start With Foundations, Not Sparring
The biggest beginner mistake is wanting to “fight” right away. In the MAJESTY BALI MMA class, you will start with fundamentals: stance, footwork, breathing, and conditioning. Sparring is introduced only after your basic technique and body control are solid.
2. Build Fitness While Learning Technique
You do not need to “get fit first”. Foundation classes are designed to raise your fitness progressively. Companions like HIIT and Flexibility speed up your body’s adaptation to training intensity.
3. Minimal Gear for Your First Month
- Dry-fit shirt and shorts or leggings.
- Towel and water — you will sweat a lot.
- MMA/boxing gloves can be borrowed at the dojo; buy once you commit.
- A mouthguard when you enter controlled sparring sessions.
4. Consistency Beats Intensity
Training 2–3 times a week consistently is far more effective than one brutal session followed by a month of absence. Monthly membership helps build the habit — with no annual lock-in.
“Road to Glory is not a sprint. Every great fighter started with a nervous first class.”
